Police charged seven adults for drinking while riding in a Taxi in Perth County.
A taxi cab driver is facing some hefty fines after going through a R.I.D.E program in Perth County.
Police say they stopped the taxi on Saturday night on Line 32 at the intersection of Road 150. The driver had seven adults in the cab and all of them were drinking. All seven passengers were given tickets for drinking in a vehicle and the cabbie was given a ticket for driving a vehicle with liquor readily available.
The taxi cab licence plates also indicated that they were not registered to the vehicle. The driver was warned for this offence while the cab owner was issued a summons for “permit use of plate not authorized for the vehicle”, contrary to the Highway Traffic Act of Ontario. The cab was towed from the scene, while the driver and passengers found alternate means to reach their destination.
