People in Tillsonburg will need to make an appointment to have a new water meter installed. This change comes at no cost to customer.
TILLSONBURG - Tillsonburg residents are next up in the mandatory water meter program implemented by Oxford County.
All residents in the County will have to have their water meters changed at some point. Woodstock residents already went through this in 2011. Phase 2 is for Tillsonburg and residents will have to make an appointment with Corix Water Products over the next couple of weeks. Manager of Water Services for the County Debra Goudreau tells Heart FM they will work around your schedule.
"This is free - there is no cost for the customer for this; we have been saving money in order to pay for this project. Every customer will receive a pamphlet in the mail addressed to them from Corix and the County of Oxford and it will have the information in there about booking your appointment."
Booklets are being sent in the mail right now and once you receive the booklet you will have two weeks to book an appointment online or by phone. Anyone with questions is invited to attend a public information session on Wednesday February 17th at the Marwood Lounge, Tillsonburg Community Centre from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.
Goudreau says, "Cooperation from residents in booking appointments at the right time is important to making this is a seamless transition to new water meters. This is a mandatory program that will ensure all households are paying for the water they use and will encourage efficient use of our groundwater resources. The meter installers from Corix Water Products will be carrying photo ID. We encourage residents to look for the logo on their vehicles and ID badges as they work their way through Tillsonburg’s neighbourhoods installing the upgrades."
Once the water meter replacements are complete in Tillsonburg, Corix will be moving on to other areas in the County in the following order:
Brownsville, Mount Elgin, Dereham Centre, Springford, Otterville, Norwich, Princeton, Drumbo, Bright and Plattsville, Innerkip, Hickson, Tavistock, Beachville, Sweaburg, Lakeside, Embro, Thamesford and the Town of Ingersoll
The goal is to have all meters installed by the end of Spring 2017.
