It's a huge goal, but United Way Oxford is aiming for $1.2 million for their campaign.
OXFORD COUNTY - The United Way of Oxford has released their campaign goal for 2015.
Campaign Coordinator Jennifer Belleth was happy to reveal the 1.2 million dollar goal. "That is a number that comes with great consideration based upon previous years. And we have an exciting time of new investments for our community in terms of some targeted measurable outcomes that we're looking for. And that 1.2 is on target with some absolute outcomes that we wish."
The official announcement came out today during breakfast at the Van Ave Fire Hall. Campaign Coordinator Jennifer Belleth says a huge amount of people came out to celebrate the campaign kick off, and they'll see that same enthusiasm throughout the campaign. "It is the volunteers out in the workplaces, out in our community who make it happen. They go amongst their colleagues and their peers and communicate what is going on in our community, how people need support, and the dollars come. And we're excited. People do campaign in a day, they do campaigns over three weeks. But it's all over our community."
Although the money was the focus this morning, Campaign Coordinator Jennifer Belleth says it's important to never loose sight of the people they serve. "What is it like for people living in poverty? What is it like for people that are working and living in poverty? People with mental health and addictions, people that are single parents and are struggling to have somebody in their child's life besides themselves that can mentor them and help them become resilient. So those kinds of things."
They are confident that through the constant generosity of the community they will be able to achieve this goal by the year end.
