The Woodstock Fire Department will use a $1,000 cheque from Union Gas to expand their advertising into bus shelters.
WOODSTOCK - Union Gas has presented the Woodstock Fire Department with a cheque for $1,000.
Kevin Carr, the Field Supervisor with Union Gas Woodstock, stopped by the Parkinson Road Fire Hall earlier today. He explains why they decided to donate the funds to our local firefighters.
"Union Gas being part of the community recognizes the good work that the Woodstock Fire Department does. They want to help support all of the safety actions and everything they provide to the community."
Acting Fire Chief Jeff Slager says the money will be put to good use.
"We're looking towards expanding our advertising. You'll see us in more bus shelters and areas we normally wouldn't be able to expand into. We've partnered with a couple of other departments to get some unique branding that comes out with that as well. This will help us be able to tailor it more to the city of Woodstock."
In the past, the department has used similar grants to benefit their free fire extinguisher training courses. They're offered on a monthly basis through the summer, so people know how to use them in a time of crisis.
