A year long review of the three long-term care facilities recommended business as usual at Woodingford Lodge.
Oxford County councillors voted to maintain status quo operations at all three Woodingford Lodge facilities.
The recommendation came as part of a year long service review of the long-term care facilities unveiled Wednesday night.
The report also highlighted opportunities to explore further partnerships with Tillsonburg District Memorial Hospital and Alexandra Hospital at Woodingford's Tillsonburg and Ingersoll sites.
Director Corrie Fransen says it's always important to look for efficiencies.
"We want to provide great resident care but look at if there is any area we can improve as far as cost savings then we are going to do that. I think that's our job. Anywhere that we can look for any efficiencies we are going to do that and collaborate with community partners."
Fransen says Warden Don McKay will write the Premier of Ontario, the Minister of Health and Long-Term Care and member municipalities of the Western Ontario Wardens Caucus asking for municipalities be able to opt out of providing long-term care.
"Currently there is a regulation that all municipalities have a long term care facility so that is something that the Warden will write a letter requesting that municipalities in general would not be restricted to having those long term care facilities."
The service review was approved by council in February 2013 to find ways to reduce the tax levy for long-term care through operational savings, as well as to explore new ways of providing the service, including outsourcing, reducing to a single site and other options.
Fransen says she's happy with the decision to keep service status quo.
Fransen says council's acceptance of the recommendations gives her staff a clearer picture of their immediate future and allows them to focus on providing excellent and compassionate care.
