The Woodstock Curling Club invites everyone to check out the men's and women's senior provincial championship for free.
WOODSTOCK - The Woodstock Curling Club is hosting the Ontario Men's and Women's Senior Provincial Championships.
Draws starts this afternoon and the bonspiel will run until Sunday. Co Chair of the event Murray Coulter tells Heart FM some of the best curlers on the senior circuit will be in Woodstock this week.
"8 women's teams and 8 men's teams will square off and they are decided through zone and regional championships which have been ongoing for the past 5 weeks which 8 teams would qualify from all over the province to come and play here in Woodstock."
Admission to watch the action is free and the other Co Chair of the event Bob Axon says they will be hosting lunch and dinners each day that will only cost $8 and $10 daily.
"And then the finals are on Sunday and we would like everyone to come out and see this event. It's free at the Woodstock Curling Club and it is open for you to enjoy the venue and the food."
Mark Kean who is one of Woodstock's most famous curlers right now having participated in last year's Brier says he can tell you the competition will be fierce this week.
"Actually one of the teams in this was my coach last year when we went to the Brier - Bryan Cochrane he's been to the Brier himself and right there that tells you what kind of competition there will be. You won't see the greatest sweeping out there but the talent these guys have they don't need great sweeping, I think it's going to be a great show."
