The Woodstock Navy Vets are hoping for a win tonight as they host the Paris Mounties in Game 6 of their best of 7 game series.
WOODSTOCK - Things are really getting down to the wire in the Woodstock Navy Vets and Paris Mounties series.
Game six goes tonight in Woodstock at 7:45PM. This is the second year in a row these teams have met in the first round and they have really developed an intense rivalry. Head coach Adam Wallace tells Heart FM these teams know each other pretty well by now.
"We've played Paris, I think it has been 24 times in the past 2 years and each team normally only plays each other 10 times, you play each team 5 times a year and our rivalry is getting bigger and bigger with Paris and coming in tensions will be rising and guys will be giving 100% because nobody wants to get eliminated from the playoffs and have their season done."
The Mounties have a 3 games to 2 series lead in the best of seven after winning game five on Friday night 5-2 and can clinch the series with a win tonight. Wallace outlines the keys to victory tonight.
"Keys to victory will be the big thing we have been focusing on all series long is defence first and capitalizing on our chances when we get them."
Forward and Assistant captain with the Navy Vets Justin Elms echoed that sentiment.
"I think the keys to victory tonight will be finding pucks out front of the net and burying them and coming back in our d zone, picking up the third man trailer and clearing pucks out from the front of our net."
