WOODSTOCK - Smart Energy Oxford has passed plans for the County relating to renewable energy.
They are looking to inspire others and gather as much information as possible.
Woodstock Mayor, Trevor Birtch was invited to a San Francisco presentation to share what our community is doing to reach their goals.
Birtch says the conference heard presentations from both Google and Apple about their plans for their campuses.
He describes what they spoke about.
"What we really saw there was redundancies. Having geothermal solutions, wind solutions, and solar solutions and having them all integrated so you are always maximizing those efficiencies."
Birtch says he was honoured to be asked to speak at the conference and it is beneficial for the community.
"By doing this is helps heighten the brand awareness. There are businesses that are looking to setup shop somewhere here in North America, it is a very competitive market. When they can hear we have a very progressive community that is standing behind the sustainability goals, it goes a long way to help them make their decision."
Birtch says he is looking forward to the future of renewable energy in the County.
"We heard a lot of inspiring things that are coming down the pipeline that will be great for everyone here in Woodstock and Oxford County."
Woodstock was one of the two municipalities in Canada asked to join the conference.
