Udderly Ridiculous Farm Life will be hosting its Wreck the Dress fundraiser on Saturday September 23rd. All of the proceeds will be going to the Moving Forward Scholarship Fund for domestic abuse survivors.
BRIGHT - The smash hit Wreck the Dress event is back, giving women who have suffered through domestic abuse.
You can dress up in a wedding or formal gown and take pictures with the animals at Udderly Ridiculous Farm Life on Saturday September 23rd. The event raises funds for the Moving Forward Scholarship Fund, giving post-secondary scholarships to women who have been through domestic abuse and are looking to move from surviving to thriving.
This year, the event will be hosted by Udderly Ridiculous' Nubian Goat Queen Victoria. She will also be hosting a thrift show, where you can bring your best dress and Victoria will decide whether it should be wrecked or saved.
Founder of Udderly Ridiculous Farm Life, Cheryl Haskett on what makes this event significant and something to be mindful of if you plan on attending.
"Although the event is filled with fun and laughter for everyone, for some trashing a gown can be a powerful symbol of moving past a tragic, emotional past or making a personal statement to let go of conforming to societal expectations, and we want to create the space for both to exist in this event,"
This event is for women and women-identifying, non-gendered, and/or gendered allies only. You can purchase a spectator ticket for $25 if you don't wish to participate or you can purchase one of their photo package tickets which ranges from $50 to $100. You can purchase your tickets online here.
