United Way Oxford collected over 1,000 boxes of feminine hygiene products and over $250 cash earlier this week during Tampon Tuesday.
OXFORD COUNTY - It was a very successful Tampon Tuesday fundraiser for United Way Oxford.
Volunteers were stationed outside all of the local Shoppers Drug Mart stores Tuesday afternoon. They collected donations of cash and feminine hygiene products for local organizations in order to address period poverty in our community.
Resource Development Coordinator Mike Crabbe says they were blown away by the community support.
"We were able to bring in over 1,000 boxes of product and that is continuing to grow because we still have businesses and individuals that are kind of trickling them in to us so we can get those out there. We also raised over $250 in cash donations."
Crabbe says you can still donate to the cause if you haven't already.
"It was a really successful event and if people want to continue to donate there is always a need, so connect with us and we will find a way to get those out into the community."
The United Way Oxford office is located at 447 Hunter Street in Woodstock and it's open from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday to Friday. The phone number is 519-539-3851 and you can visit the United Way Oxford website online here.
