Khanna honoured Jeremy Hansen and Ella Shelton in the House of Commons yesterday.
OTTAWA/OXFORD - Oxford MP Arpan Khanna shined a light on two local heroes in the House of Commons.
In his official statement yesterday, he talked about IDCI graduate Jeremy Hansen and his journey to become the first Canadian to travel to the moon. He also talked about Ella Shelton, who plays defense for the Toronto Sceptres in the PWHL and will once again play for team Canada at the Milan Cortina Winter Olympics.
"For Jeremy and Ella, this moment is about more than personal milestones. It reflects who we are as a community and what we stand for. We are proud of Canada, and the best is yet to come."
In spite of all of our difference, Khanna said Canadians strength, resilience, and talent unites all of us, and Shelton and Hansen are just two examples of this.
"Oxford is home to many of these superstars. We work hard, we stand strong, we help one another, and we create opportunities for others to succeed."
Khanna's statement was met with a standing ovation from all sides of the House of Commons.
