AYR - It was quite the scare for a family in Ayr who came home to find a man in their house wearing a mask and holding knife.
Waterloo Regional Police say the family returned home around 7:30 last night and found the man inside the living room. After a brief struggle the intruder dropped the homeowners belongings and fled on foot. The suspect is described as white, approximately 6 feet tall, with a thin build. He is believed to be between the ages of 16-20 and was wearing a black ski mask, black gloves, black pants and a blue parka style winter coat. He was also in possession of two backpacks. One appeared to be a new, black "STARTER" backpack with an S on it. The other one was grey.
This is not the first case of a home invasion in the tiny town in the past couple of months. Police are reminding residents of Ayr to lock your doors and report any suspicious activity in your neighbourhood.
