After months of noise, dust and detours, the Bell St. construction is almost finished. An early snowfall is part of the reason for the delayed construction which is expected to end late next week.
INGERSOLL - Construction on Bell Street in the Town of Ingersoll is going to last for at least, one more week.
The early snowfall is part of the reason for the delayed construction project on Bell Street, the Crew started early in the Summer and was set to end last week.
Manager of Engineering Services Melissa Ambercrombie explains why the construction has taken so long.
"Bell street construction started earlier this Summer and we were hoping it would be done this week, we still need about a week or so, just to wrap things up for the year, unfortunately we did have that early snowfall that did delay some of the construction as well as just having some issues regarding timing and traffic on site so we are just a little behind schedule but we are hoping by the end of next week the road way will be open again."
Ambercrombie explains that the project was for more than just the road.
"Bell street was a full reconstruction as well as we had two structures on that site, plus we did some sanitary work, some storm work, and some water main, as well as putting in some new curb, sidewalk, and asphalt."
She adds that the town will have to be patient but it will all be over soon.
"This week they're hoping to get the base asphalt down, that is weather dependent but we ask people to stick with us and avoid the area for the next week or so, then hopefully it will be back up again."
The total cost of the project is $3,274,942 million dollars but they don't see any overages coming due to the delay, and until the project is finished the town will have to wait to use the road.
