Local Veteran Enrolled in Program

Coding for Veterans is a program that helps military veterans transition back to civilian life.

NORWICH - An Oxford County veteran has taken advantage of a program.

Alex DeMontmorency lives in Norwich and is enrolled in the Coding for Veterans program as he spent just over 12 years in the Royal Canadian Navy. The program allows former military personnel an opportunity at a career in cybersecurity. The program was started 5 years ago by Jeff Musson out of Windsor and is affiliated with the University of Ottawa. He says he is a student in the Cybersecurity Architect program.

"Honestly I never looked back. It's a fantastic program that you really get out what you put into it. So, it is 100 percent self-directed, but you do have access to instructors anytime you need."

He mentions one of his friends was enrolled in the program, and that is how he first found out about the possibility. DeMontmorency says that enrolling in the program is a great way to help the transition back into civilian life.

"Going through a program like Coding for Veterans can really take those skills that are military-specific and translate them into a civilian tech job."

He says if anyone is looking for a change from their current military life, Coding for Veterans is a very solid option. You can visit the Coding for Veterans website for all the information.
