The Warden of Oxford and the Mayor of Woodstock have been nominated for a prestigious award.
Two politicians in Oxford County have been nominated for the Power Prosperity Awards by the Ontario Sustainable Energy Association.
Warden of the county David Mayberry and Woodstock Mayor Trevor Birtch are nominated for the 20 - 20 Leadership of the Year Award.
Birtch says this shows how dedicated the entire county is to reaching the 100 percent renewable energy goal. "This is definitely something that speaks to all the great work that is going on here in Oxford County in regards to sustainability and renewable energy and that there's a real desire for people to look to leadership to help advance some of these initiative."
Birtch also says this is not the work of one or two people, but a solid group of people working together. "So it's a real great opportunity to say thank you again to all of the people who have been helping out, it is driven by the grass roots. And also to all my committee members on Smart Energy Oxford, and my co-chair Jay Heaman and all the great work that they do."
The awards will be given out in Woodbridge Ontario on Thursday evening.
