Warden Mayberry touched on a number of issues during the annual breakfast including some of the challenges facing the County
It was a packed house for the Warden's Breakfast in Ingersoll. Warden Mayberry touched on a number of issues including some of the challenges facing the County. He talked about the need for doctor recruitment, mass transit in the County and the plans to bring in fibre Internet through the SWIFT program. Mayberry also talked about the financial state of the County which he says is in great shape. "If you look at the books of the County we have in excess of $100 million in reserves, now some of those reserves are designated for particular projects, but the County has about $500,000 million in assets, now obviously we don't want to sell roads and all that kind of stuff but financially we're good." He adds when you look at the Oxford's asset to debt ratio they are in very good shape and all of the lower tiers in the County are in good shape right now. Mayberry did say the biggest strength of the County is our people and having the five chambers of commerce come together to organize this meeting is a perfect example of working with our neighbours is the way forward for Oxford. Mayberry also touched on the current state of the dump proposal and says they are still waiting to hear back from the Province on the Terms of Reference.
