The 20th anniversary of the South Gate Centre is coming up in November. On top of celebrating the last twenty years in the community, they will also share their plans on expanding their facility.
WOODSTOCK - The 20th anniversary of the South Gate Centre is coming up in November.
The facility is inviting members, partners and the community to celebrate their past and present, as well as their future.
Office & Volunteer Manager, Bonnie Ward says they're looking forward to a great day.
"Our South Gate Musicares are putting on a small performance. We'll have a ukulele class that will be performing a line dancing demonstration and our fitness team is going to put on a demonstration as well."
The event will also have dignitaries and board members on hand.
Ward has been working with a small committee of members for this event. She says they felt it's important to remember the past and celebrate their present and their future.
"I know that 20 years ago there was a very active senior centre and they needed more space and this current facility was renovated to look after the needs of that present time and as the 20 years have moved on we've only grown as a centre and we are expanding. We are busting at the seams here so we're looking forward over the next two to three years for our future facility expansions to accommodate even the more growing population."
On top of celebrating the last twenty years in the community, they will also share their plans on expanding their facility.
She says they're looking forward to going ahead with their future expansion, which was brought to a Woodstock City council meeting for consideration into a future capital budget.
Ward adds along with the demonstrations, refreshments and an anniversary cake.
The facility has been in the community since 1999 and it will take place inside their Altadore Hall on November 4th.
It'll go from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm.
