Fundraising efforts are underway for the Woodstock Salvation Army's Christmas Hampers.
WOODSTOCK - Christmas Hampers will once again be distributed to people in need in our community.
The Salvation Army of Woodstock is putting the hampers together now. Major Naomi Dalley says you can sign up for a hamper at their family services office by calling 519-539-6166.
"They need to provide a summary of their incumbent expenses, just so we can do a basic assessment for their need to qualify for the hamper and they need to bring i.d. for every member of their household as well. We are doing that all this week, so if they need a hamper, they need to get in as soon as possible."
Dalley says each hamper will include food for the holidays, toys for the kids and other items to make sure the holidays are special for everyone.
"It's the essentials that one would need for a Christmas meal and a few staples as well, such as pasta, soups, things to make chili with, that kind of thing to help get them through the winter months. The toys are chosen by the parents, so they are donated and sorted into age categories and the parents are allowed to browse the age categories for which they have children and choose something that would be suitable for their kids and kids generally get two or three things, plus a few stocking stuffers, whatever we have available for them."
Distribution day is on December 19th this year. Fundraising efforts are well underway for the Woodstock Salvation Army's Christmas Hampers.
