WOODSTOCK - It's your last chance to buy tickets for Gems and Java!
Hearts for Ethiopia is hosting the fundraiser on Saturday, April 18th at Maranatha Church. The proceed will benefit their projects overseas that support children, and education in Ethiopia. Founder Shelley Green tells us about one of them.
"Tesfa Shelter is our major project now, serving just over 80 children, with many of the children living at the shelter, but some of them also living in the community with family but they are unable to care for their children due to a lack of money."
She talks about the main goal for the charity.
"We're not about handouts, we are really lifting people up, we are also not about a band-aid solution, we want to look at what the causes of extreme poverty are in these parts of Ethiopia, and we want to look at how we resolve these issues."
Gems and Java has lots going on with a silent auction, the Bags and Baubles Boutique, an Ethiopian marketplace, an Ethiopian Coffee Ceremony and more! Tickets are $65 for individuals, or $460 for a table of 8 and you can buy them online here.
Shelley Green stopped by the Heart FM studio to chat with Dan and Marcie on Thursday, April 2nd. You can listen to the full interview below:
