Oxford County Council is already looking at the 2016 Business Plan & Budget - taxes may increase slightly.
Oxford County Council is starting to plan ahead for the 2016 Business Plan and Budget.
At the last meeting they went over the strategic plan which outlines where the County wants to be when budget talks begin in November and December. On Wednesday they will outline the dates for budget deliberations. Warden David Mayberry tells Heart FM they want to be fully prepared. "We're going to ask the people of Oxford County to commit another 50 million dollars to carry on programs and so we need to have a very well thought out and orchestrated plan to help staff and also to help county council be accountable for the budget we will produce."
Mayberry says if we're going to ask for your money we should have a clear and concise plan on what we are going to do with it. He says one challenge this year is the Federal and Provincial Governments are short of cash so we probably won't get as much help from in terms of assistance this year. Mayberry says he thinks staff will be coming in with very responsible budgets and expects the increase on taxes would be in the 1 to 2 percent range.
