The fraudulent posters have the Southwestern Public Health logo.
SWPH - Southwestern Public Health is warning everyone about some fraudulent posters circulating in the community.
The posters claim there is an outbreak in the area and asks residents to call before entering facilities. They even have the Southwestern Public Health logo on them, but the health unit says they're fake and there is no outbreak in effect.
Director of Health Protection Susan McIsaac says officials are working towards addressing this situation.
"We want to assure the public that this sign is not an official Southwestern Public Health communication. Replicating a forged public health alert is a serious matter. Valid alerts of this nature would be widely communicated through our verified channels, including our website, social media accounts, and direct communications with partners."
You can verify also any public notice from Southwestern Public Health by calling 1-800-922-0096.
