Oxford County's aging infrastructure was one of the many topics brought up during County Council's regular meeting Wednesday night. A Bridge needs study report was presented to council on how best to deal with some 69 bridges and 90 culverts. Director of Public Works Rob Walton says the county has an estimated $310 million dollars in a variety of infrastructure that needs to be maintained "these structures that we have are all different. If you go around and look at the bridges we have you'll see rigid frames structures, we have single span structures, we have free-span bridges and we have a whole range of culvert designs, so they're all different". Walton says 113 Million dollars was required in 2010 to rehabilitate all county structures to their original conditions, but the current needs are $5.7M.
