WOODSTOCK - Time is running out to get your tickets for the Big Night Out Charity Ball in support of Big Brothers Big Sisters Oxford.
Resource Development Coordinator Liz Wismer Van-Meer says tickets cost only $50.
"That includes an amazing buffet dinner from Buzzy's catering in Innerkip, the food is amazing every single year, we will have live music from Ferguson Drive, Scott and Lee ??? are our DJ's this year, so they will have you out on the dance floor all night, it's always a really fun evening."
They also have a huge silent auction table, a late night snack from Boston Pizza and the theme this year is old Hollywood. Wismer Van-Meer says you are encouraged to dress up in your favourite era from Hollywood.
"Old Hollywood can look however you think it is, whether you are going back into the 20's, the 50's the 60's, the 70's, whatever era from old Hollywood you want to do. We are going to welcome you with a red carpet as you walk into the charity ball. We have some fun decor, we have been working with All Celebrations to come up with some fun and unique decorations for Old Hollywood. It is great to watch everyone to dress up and have a great time, we encourage everyone to dress up, but you don't have too, you can dress in any semi formal attire that you like."
The Big Night Out is the biggest fundraiser of the year for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Oxford. Last year they raised $100,000 and our hoping to exceed that number this year. Wismer Van-Meer explains why they need to host big fundraiser's like this.
"Right now we have about 11 programs that we offer through Big Brothers Big Sisters of Oxford County and those programs are completely free to the young people and families who use them. We have absolutely no cost allocated to what we provide to families in Oxford County. So for us to continue to provide these programs the way we do, we need this funding. We do not receive ongoing Government funding and we rely heavily on grants and funding we receive through different groups and organizations, such as United Way, but a big chunk of that, also comes from our fundraising, so that is why an event like this is, is so crucial for us to continue to offer those, so that is why we want to to expand and make sure we are reaching all of Oxford County and even grow on those programs."
It's happening this Saturday night at the Oxford Auditorium and they only have about 40 tickets left before they sell out. You can purchase your tickets for only $50 by calling the Big Brothers Big Sisters office in Woodstock at (519) 537-6404, or online at oxford.bigbrothersbigsisters.ca.
