Chilly Charlie will make his annual prognostication at 8:15 a.m. on Sunday February 2nd.
WOODSTOCK - Groundhog Day is a go in the Friendly City!
South Gate Centre is in the middle of it's multi-million dollar expansion, but Executive Director Chris Cunningham says that will not stop Chilly Charlie from emerging from his burrow on Sunday.
"As you know South Gate Centre is under some construction, so I want people to know this is still happening. There is parking along the road and along the park side and I know that the parks department will be ready and the roads will be clear for Sunday morning."
Woodstock's favourite groundhog is set to make his annual prediction at 8:15 a.m. If Charlie sees his shadow we'll have six more weeks of winter, but if he doesn't we'll have an early spring. He predicted an early spring last year.
Cunningham says South Gate Centre will also host its annual breakfast afterward, but they're expanding it this year.
"It's a buffet style, so it will run from 8:30 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. for $15. There is a special price for kids ($7.50) but we're also going to be doing a Chilly Charlie mini plate. So if you want to just get a couple of flapjacks, you can get a plate of flapjacks for $5."
With the event falling on a weekend this year, South Gate decided to try the buffet format because people won't be rushing to get to work.
Chris Cunningham stopped by the Heart FM studio to chat with Dan Henry on Thursday January 29th. You can listen to the full interview below:
