Oxford County residents and a panel of experts will be having a frank discussion about health care.
INGERSOLL - Oxford County residents will be detailing both the good and the bad of their experiences with health care.
Bryan Smith, Chair of the Oxford Coalition of Social Justice tells Heart FM about a special event planned for June 26th.
"We are going to have a panel of experts hearing testimony from people who will tell their stories about their encounters with health care; both in terms of things that seem to be deficiencies and in terms of promising practises of people in the medical profession."
Smith believes some people might talk about having a surgery postponed due to hospital quotas.
"Faced with those delays many people have been offered private clinic visits to perform those same things that are supposed to be covered under OHIP and legally are free under the National Heath Act."
Smith adds these clinics have been performing the surgeries for substantial amounts of money. Click here to view a report by the Ontario Health Coalition highlighting the dangers of private clinics.
The panel discussion will run from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Ingersoll Legion.
