The city is set to apply for a provincial grant for five of its community projects. It's called the Community Infrastructure Improvement Fund. Mayor Pat Sobeski outlines its criteria: "What's happened is the province has come out with an infrastructure program. Municipalities can submit projects. You can get 33% funding or 50% funding depending on how aggressive you want to be." Woodstock's projects include: 1) The Lions Pool liner and pump sanitizer safety tower replacement: Project is currently 75% completed on July 3 2012. Cost: $ 40,000 2) The Woodstock Community Complex condenser replacement: Project was completed on July 26 2012. Cost:$ 32,600 3) The Sea Cadets Building accessibility: To add an accessible ramp to the front of the Sea Cadet Hallway and to bring the washroom up to provincial accessibility standards $50,000 - washroom project approved by Council - $13,750 4) The Woodstock Community Complex washroom accessibility: To bring the washrooms in the hallway outside Goff Hall up to provincial accessibility standards $50,000 5) Tip O'Neill Ball Field upgrades: To provide field upgrades at the Tip O'Neill ball field to support minor ball $ 41,300 If approved to receive the funding, the city would put in an additional $57,000 if it's required. Some of the mentioned projects have already been completed, however Sobeski says extra dollars would be a great benefit.
