The Ingersoll District Chamber of Commerce is encouraging the public to take part in their new social media campaign.

INGERSOLL - The community of Ingersoll is encouraged to get on social media and share their positive experiences about local businesses.

The Ingersoll District Chamber of Commerce has launched a new social media campaign called Positive Post.

The online campaign encourages the public to post their positive experiences on local businesses on social media.

President of the Ingersoll District Chamber of Commerce, Tammy Jeffery-Larder says residents are being encouraged to share their positive experiences online.

"We're just looking for residents of Ingersoll and the area to put on social media their great experiences and service that they're receiving when they go into businesses in town or in the district."

Jeffery-Larder adds the purpose of the campaign is to support local business in town.

"Basically, we want to support local businesses and we want to hear about the great things that are happening in town. It's very easy to take for granted the good service that you're receiving and you don't really hear about that very often, where sometimes you hear some not so great experiences but there's many more good experiences than there are bad experiences it's just people don't share them."

The Chamber released more information on the campaign in a press release on Monday. The release states  the campaign promotes the power of positive posts and is aimed at shifting the tone of comments that are made about local businesses or service providers in the town.

The public can simply go on social media and they can tag the business they're reviewing, along with including the hashtag #positivepost, and they can also tag in the Chamber in the post as well so their staff can see it.

Chamber staff will be monitoring the posts on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram and if they see a particular impactful post, that person may win a prize.

The campaign launched last week and Jeffery-Larder says there is already some activity online.

"They're seeing some great activity. I put a post out there myself and it created a long chain of people that had great service at the same store. So it's reinforcing that there's lots of great things that are happening in our businesses here and positive feeds on positive, and that's kind of the whole idea behind this is we just get out there and get people thinking about local businesses and supporting local businesses."

According to the release, Chamber directors and members are sponsoring gift cards and awarding them at random to those who post their positive experiences.
