The Town of Ingersoll is now accepting applications for free sugar maple trees
INGERSOLL - Residents of Ingersoll looking to add a little more green to their lives can take part in the Free Tree program.
The exceedingly popular program has returned for another year. Admin Assistant Lenore Capern says anyone can apply, but there will be preference given to certain applicants.
"Anybody who's had a tree taken down by the town or a tree in a new development, in a new subdivision."
This year the town will be giving away 50 sugar maple trees. Capern is already seeing applications fly in to claim the trees.
"So it's when they're gone, they're gone. Unfortunately we can't offer any more until next year and the budget predicts if we get to have the program every year. Residents who have already claimed a tree should have them in April."
The trees should be planted in a location facing the street away from overhead wires and underground sewer, gas, or water lines.
Anyone interested can call Capern at 519-485-0120 ext 2223 or email lcapern@ingersoll.ca
