Operation Sharing is taking applications and donations for their annual program
WOODSTOCK - With back to school just around the corner, Operation Sharing is now accepting donations and applications for their Knapsacks for Kids program.
The annual program hands out approximately 300 knapsacks each year to Oxford County families who cannot afford school supplies.
Program Coordinator Caren Bright says they are taking applications for backpacks until August 21.
"They need to bring all of their i.d. , verification of children in school, the grades, basically their information, their bills, their source of income and little things like that and they get a little slip of paper to come back and receive the knapsack."
Bright says they are always looking for people to donate supplies.
"Anymore the stores will have little slips of paper in their isles of what goes in to the different grades. If people want to do a specific grade, they are there. If they wish to call us to find out what goes into them they are welcome to do that as well."
Bright says they have never run out of knapsacks for those in need.
"The community is very good with this program. Sometimes it's just overwhelming when I see all of the stuff coming in for the children and that is great to see the community behind this program."
Backpacks will be distributed August 28 and 29.
