The renovations will make the washrooms, family changerooms, and showers all barrier-free. Other improvements will be made to the staff/first aid area, entrance area, and exterior of the building.
TILLSONBURG - The Tillsonburg Lake Lisgar Waterpark Building is getting a $1.2 million upgrade.
The federal government granted the town $750,000 as part of the Canada Community Revitalization Fund. The remaining $450,000 is coming from Tillsonburg.
Chief Administrative Officer Kyle Pratt says the community needs its recreational facilities to meet modern standards.
“The waterpark continues to be an important tourism asset in the community and is especially relevant to families throughout the region with young children.”
The renovations will make the washrooms, family changerooms, and showers all barrier-free. Other improvements will be made to the staff/first aid area, entrance area, and exterior of the building.
The general contractor selected is PK Construction which is located in Tillsonburg. Design and consulting, however, has been awarded to the London-based A+Link Architects.
Work is expected to begin shortly to try and minimize the overlap with the summer season, which typically sees around 15,000 guests attend the waterpark.
The grant was given through the Federal Economic Development Agency for Southern Ontario. The agency has been operating for over a decade, granting funds in the region to create jobs and spur the economy.
