Money is being raised at a local concert to help raise funds for a Syrian family settling here in the Friendly City.
WOODSTOCK - A number of local artists will be performing at the Music for Syrians concert happening at the Legion in Woodstock on February 6th.
Tickets are $10 each and all of the money raised at the event will go towards sponsoring the settlement of a Syrian refugee family to Woodstock. One of the organizers Jessica Curtis Blair says they are still trying to get the family to Woodstock right now.
"We are the Woodstock Community Sponsorship, so right now we are the waiting list with MCC in Kitchener, so we should know anytime know, we are sponsoring a family of four and we should know the details on the family and the ages anytime now."
She says the concert promises to be a great time and they have 5 musicians lined up for the event.
"There is a huge different mixture of music, we have everything from acoustic music, bands, to some r&b and hip hop artists, we have a couple of different acoustic people coming and we are trying to get a good mixture of different types of music."
Tickets can be bought at the Sutton Group Right Way, Beantown Coffee and Century 21 Heritage House in Woodstock or at the door. The group is also looking for sponsors for some raffles and prize giveaways for the event and you can find more on their Facebook page.
