Police can hand out tickets to motorists who don't properly clear off their vehicle.
With all the nasty weather we have been getting recently, the local OPP detachment is reminding everyone to make sure it's clear before your in gear.
Police have noticed a number of cars in the region that have only partially cleared off their windshields and windows. It's imperative you clear off all of the frost, ice and snow in your car. When the roads are bad, the last thing you want is to have any type of reduced visibility. Also you need to make sure to clear your wiper blades and windshield washer nozzles so they will work when you need them.
It is illegal to drive with your windows blocked by snow or ice and police will issue a charge if they feel it is warranted. Given the number of collisions over the past few days the OPP felt it was necessary to get this message out now.
"Visibility matters and taking those extra minutes could mean the difference between life and death. The ability to see clearly out of your vehicle is vital to safe driving. After all, if you can't see it, how can you avoid it," comments Constable Ed Sanchuk, Norfolk County OPP.
