It claims to be the longest running, full contact men's hockey league in Canada. But the North Oxford Men's Hockey League is looking for players after a couple of teams have shut down, leaving them with only three actives teams. Commissioner Lee Griffi tells Heart FM, "I had two teams fold in the off-season, which was a bit of a surprise. One was a team based in Embro that's been in the league to be honest, forever. There are still guys who still want to play that played on that team." And so the league is looking for individuals, or even full teams to join. Griffi says it is a full contact league aimed at men 18 and older. "It's a full body contact league. I've talked to the teams over the years about transitioning into a no bump, and they say no. They're die-hards, they like the physical game and want to keep it that way." Griffi says they'd like to add a team from Woodstock, and are looking for players from Embro, Tavistock, Stratford and even New Hamburg. Anyone interested in playing should contact Lee Griffi at 519-275-7708 or by e-mail at leegriffi@rogers.com.
