Police have some tips for dealing with door-to-door salespeople.
OXFORD COUNTY - The Oxford OPP has received several reports of a door-to-door salesperson, pressuring people to change their medical alert system.
Police responded to these reports on Thursday, and they have some tips for someone who might find themself in this situation.
You don't have to answer the door if you don't want to. If you do answer and ask this person to leave, they're supposed to leave right away. If they don't leave and you feel unsafe, you should call police.
If you are interested in what they have to say, you should ask for proper identification and never give out your SIN number, banking information, or any passwords you use. A legitimate salesperson will never ask for this information.
You also shouldn't rush into any decisions quickly, don't let someone pressure you into buying something you don't want.
