Double dosed Canadians will soon be able to get a government document verifying their COVID-19 vaccination.
The federal government says it plans to create a vaccine passport by the fall for international travelers.
Immigration Minister Marco Mendicino says Ottawa is working with the provinces to develop the program.
He also notes the government is working with other countries to ensure Canadian vaccination credentials are recognized.
"For Canadians who decide to travel, using a proof of vaccination will provide foreign border officials with the vaccination history needed to assess whether a traveler meets their public health requirements and provide a trusted and verifiable credential for when they return home."
Intergovernmental Affairs Minister Dominic LeBlanc says the passport program will be ready to go in the fall.
He expects the credentials to be digital, but those without access to a device should also be able to get it.
The vaccine passport would include information such as the type of shots received, dates and location.
