Residents using municipal water sources in Oxford County are eligible for a new rebate if they replace their old toilets and washing machines.
Oxford County is offering a new incentive for residents using municipal drinking water to get new energy efficient equipment.
Starting on January 1st the County is offering rebates to get a new WaterSense toilet or a new Energy Star rated washing machine. The rebates are worth $100 if your machine replaces an old top load washing machine or $50 to replace an old 13-litre or larger toilet. Manager of Water Services Deborah Goudreau tells Heart FM why the County is offering these incentives.
"Expanding your drinking water systems to provide more water for customers as we grow is very expensive, so bringing a new well and a new water treatment facility online can cost millions of dollars, so water conservation can help defer those big capital costs that makes our existing resources go further."
Goudreau adds along with the rebates, the new equipment will also save you money on your water bill. Goudreau says they just wanted to offer another incentive to residents who were already considering moving to the energy efficient appliances.
"It's a win win situation, we get to see more efficient use of our very expensive drinking water and residents get to save money over time using the newer models."
Residents are encouraged to visit www.oxfordcounty.ca/rebate and read full details, and to download application forms. These forms can also be picked up from Oxford County’s Customer Service department at the Oxford County Administration Building, area municipal offices, or one of Oxford County’s library branches.
Residents can submit their completed forms, along with their disposal and purchase receipts to Customer Service at the Oxford County Administration Building at 21 Reeve St. in Woodstock, and Oxford County will mail their $50 or $100 rebate.
