It'll be an early spring this year.
WOODSTOCK - Chilly Charlie did not see his shadow, so that means it'll be an early spring.
Woodstock's resident groundhog made an appearance yesterday morning at the Southgate Centre during the Chilly Charlie Breakfast & Prognostication.
Executive Director Chris Cunningham says the crowd, and Chilly, were in great spirits.
"It was perfect. Lots of children and families, grandparents and young people came to enjoy a wonderful breakfast of pancakes, sausage and eggs, and they're still here dining, and it's just been a really great day. And Chilly made his grand appearance on a snowmobile of all things this year, so lots of fun for everyone and he had been well-rested this winter and definitely full of energy."
Following breakfast, the crowd of people gathered outside behind the Southgate Centre just after 8:00am. Charlie arrived not long after to give his prognostication.
Cunningham says they have a lot fun hosting the event.
"We did have a proclamation by Jerry Acchione on behalf of the city of Woodstock and they take great pride in these community events, as does the Southgate Centre. We are a non-profit charitable organization but we love our community, and again, very proud to be able to host the groundhog celebration here in Woodstock."
