Province of Ontario Will Send Out an Emergency Alert Today

The Province of Ontario will be sending out an emergency alert this afternoon to let travellers returning to the Province know that they are required by law to stay home and self-isolate.

ONTARIO - The Province of Ontario will be sending out an emergency alert this afternoon.

Premier Doug Ford says it will have the following message.

"Travellers returning to Ontario, you are at high risk of spreading COVID-19. You are required by law to self isolate for 14 days. Do not visit, stores, family or friends. Everyone should stay home to stop the spread."

Ford adds this message will be sent to everyone in the Province.

"This will be the first, but most likely not the last time we use this powerful tool because as Government, one of the most important things we can do right now is keep the public informed and make you sure you know how to keep yourselves and your loved ones safe."

Ford also announced new measures for businesses. The Province is allocating $10 billion to help businesses with their cash flow. Ford says they hope the measures help.

"That includes $6 billion dollars in tax deferrals for businesses and another $1.9 billion dollars in WSIB payment deferrals for up to six months."

Ford also thanked the Prime Minister for their announcement today.
