Relief Effort Underway after Earthquake in Nepal

Over 3 300 people are presumed dead following a deadly 7.8 magnitude earthquake in Nepal Saturday night.

More news of devastation continues to trickle out of Nepal as rescue teams struggle to reach residents.

A 7.8 magnitude earthquake hit Nepal Saturday night. Police are estimating more than 3 300 people have been lost so far. But that doesn't include at least 18 people killed by a quake-triggered avalanche that swept over a Mount Everest base camp or another 61 people also killed in neighbouring India, and 20 more reported dead in Tibet.

Canada's Disaster Assistance Response Team was deployed from Trenton last night. A transport plane is on route carrying rescue personnel, medics, and engineers along with 36 000 kilograms of medical supplies.
