Reports Suggest Minimum Wage Increase in Ontario

There are numerous reports suggesting the Ford Government will raise the minimum wage to $15 per hour starting January 1st 2022. Premier Doug Ford is scheduled to make an announcement at 11:00 a.m. today.

ONTARIO - It looks like minimum wage could be going up in Ontario.

Sources have told numerous Toronto news agencies that the province will raise minimum wage to $15 per hour starting January 1st. The current minimum wage is $14.35 per hour.

The minimum wage for servers and bartenders will also be increased to $15, which is a significant increase when compared to their current minimum wage of $12.55.

Reports suggest the province will increase the minimum wage with the inflation rate every October.

Premier Doug Ford will be making an announcement at 11:00 a.m. today and he will be joined by Minister of Labour Monte McNaughton and Minister of Finance Peter Bethlenfalvy. We will provide more information on this as it becomes available.
