A resident of Ayr was the lucky winner of the $10,000 South Gate Centre's 12 Days of Christmas Lottery sponsored by Chartwell Oxford Gardens
WOODSTOCK - Dave Weaver was the lucky winner of the South Gate Centre's 12 days of Christmas Lottery Sponsored by Chartwell Oxford Gardens.
The resident of Ayr was not present at Chartwell Oxford Gardens this morning as the draw was made, but was in disbelief after being contacted on the phone. Executive Director at the South Gate Centre, Chris Cunningham, says the support has been overwhelming from the public. "It was phenomenal 12 Days of Christmas Lottery for us sponsored by Chartwell Oxford Gardens, we couldn't have made all of this happen and be as successful as we were if it wasn't for Oxford Gardens. We sold a record number of tickets this year, 1,700 tickets out of 2,000 so that is phenomenal and our profits from that are approximately $30,000." The lottery began on December 26th every day a cash prize was handed out to a lucky winner as it built to the grand prize draw of $10,000.
Cunningham would like to thank everyone who purchased a ticket. "It is so much more than just the $25 ticket because they are supporting the community. South Gate Centre does so much good, we have over 800 members but we also offer services and activities and things to the community. There are thousands and thousands of people that benefit from what South Gate Centre has to offer, this money this year is actually going towards heat and hydro." While on the phone following the draw Weaver, still in shock, stated that this was the best $25 he had ever spent.
General Manager of Chartwell Oxford Gardens Nelia Hunt says teaming up with the South Gate Centre feels like a perfect partnership. "We both work for the same purpose in Oxford County and that is enriching the lives of our senior population and there is no better fit within the community to sponsor and donate to such a cause. We are delighted about another successful event. Many of our seniors are actual members of the South Gate Centre and we have South Gate Centre members that have actually become our residents at Chartwell Oxford Gardens so it is just a perfect fit." Nearly 2,000 tickets were sold that will generate $30,000 for the Centre that serves thousands of residents in the community and greatly help reach the $40,000 needed for heat and hydro.
