Operation Sharing volunteers will be outside the Woodstock Giant Tiger today from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. collecting taxable item donations for the Food for Friends program.
WOODSTOCK - Operation Sharing will hold a taxable item drive at Giant Tiger in Woodstock today.
They will be out in front of the store from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Director of Print Media Eric Schiemdl explains why they host these drives regularly.
"We do the Food for Friends food card, but it is only for non-taxable items, so they can't buy taxable items with the card. This is something we do to augment the Food for Friends program."
Schmiedl tells us more about the types of donations they're looking for today.
"We're hoping people donate things like toilet paper, shampoo, deodorant and items of that nature. Things that are taxable that they can't buy with a Food for Friends card."
Operation Sharing will hand these items out to people who use the Food for Friends program.
