Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy addressed the Canadian Parliament via a video link this morning.
Prime Minister Trudeau was the first to speak today. He got a standing ovation from every single MP on both sides of the aisle with his opening remarks.
"Volodmyr is the years I have known you, I have always thought of you a champion of democracy and know democracies around the world are lucky to have you as our champion."
Trudeau went on to praise Zelenskyy for risking his life to defend democracy.
"Your courage and the courage of your people inspires us all, you are defending the right of Ukranians to choose their own future and in doing so you are defending the values that form the pillars of all free democratic countries."
Zelenskyy opened his address explaining the current state of mind for the people in Ukraine
"I would like you to understand my feelings and feelings of all Ukranians, our feelings over the last 20 days, 20 days of a full scale aggression of Russian Federation, after 8 years of fighting, can you only imagine at 4:00 am, each of you, you hear bombings, explosions, Justin can you imagine hearing you, your children, hearing all these severe explosions, bombing of airport, bombing of Ottawa airports, can you imagine that in your country>"
