The Wienerfest Home County Festival will return to Pittock in Woodstock on June 25th, 2022 and organizer Linda Sonnenberg is looking for volunteers for the popular event.
WOODSTOCK - The Wienerfest Home County Festival is returning to Woodstock in 2022.
Organizers have been given the green light for the popular event that attracts dachshunds and their owners from all across North America. They have missed the past two years because of the pandemic. Organizer Linda Sonnenberg says 2020, would have been their 20th anniversary.
"This is the homecoming for anyone who has a wiener dog, and people want to have that homecoming again and have that same sense of family, we have known each other for years now, this will be our 22nd anniversary and we are also going to celebrate our 21st and 20th anniversaries that we missed because of the pandemic."
Linda Sonnenberg says one thing they need right now is volunteers, to make this happen.
"I know it may seem early, but I am putting the call out for volunteers right now, because without volunteers this event can't happen. We need people to help us set up the tables and tents, we have the wiener races, in order to have the wiener races, we need to install snow fencing and in order to have the hole fencing, we need to put the poles in to keep the fencing up. We have a lot of jobs to do and we can't do it without our wonderful volunteers."
Sonnenberg notes the volunteer hours would count for high school students, who need 40 hours to graduate. Wienerfest will happen on June 25th at Pittock in Woodstock. You can find more information about Wienerfest and how to volunteer online here.
