A person from Woodstock is facing charges after police found them with a weapon.
WOODSTOCK - Woodstock Police have laid charges in a weapons investigation near a school.
On Tuesday, May 21st at 9:15 a.m. officers responded to the area of Riddell, Hunter and Graham Streets after reports of a person with their arms in the air holding what was believed to be a knife. The person was located by police immediately and taken into custody.
As a result of the investigation, a 26-year-old from Woodstock is facing one count of possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, and one count of failure to comply with a probation order.
The next day, the same person was seen walking down Hunter Street with a hammer. Woodstock Police found the person behind the police station on Adelaide Street.
Police have said they are working closely with the school and the Thames Valley District School Board to ensure the staff and students are safe. At this time Woodstock Police are easing the concerns by saying at this time there is no evidence or reason to show the school is a target for this person and all the staff and students are safe.
