It's going to be a hot start to the long weekend that's shaping up to be a mixed bag of summer weather. Oxford Public Health has issued a heat alert for today and Saturday, as daytime high temperatures will be in the lower 30's with humidex values flirting with the 40-degree mark. There's also smog and humidex advisories in effect that will probably carry through Saturday. The smog advisory also means open air burning is not permitted in Woodstock city limits, something the Fire Department wants to make people aware of. By Sunday, we should see some relief from the heat in the form of some much needed rain. The Civic Holiday Monday is shaping up to be a nice finish to the long weekend with sunshine and a high of 26.
