The Woodstock Fire Department will use a $19,043.74 grant from the Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation to purchase ice/water rescue equipment.
WOODSTOCK - Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation has awarded the Woodstock Fire Department with a grant for critical lifesaving equipment.
Woodstock is receiving $19,043.74 specifically to purchase ice/water rescue equipment. That will add to the $2-million across 279 grants the nonprofit has provided since 2015.
The new ice/water rescue equipment, including an inflatable rapid deployment craft (RDC) with an inflation kit and six Mustang dry suits & liners, will replace an aging RDC and provide a range of dry suit sizes for Woodstock firefighters, ultimately improving the lifesaving capabilities of first responders when they are called into action.
This grant is one of 11 awarded to public safety organizations during the most recent grant cycle. The 11 grants will provide critical lifesaving equipment valued at more than $279,000 across Ontario.
Fire Chief Jeff Slager is grateful for the contribution from Firehouse Subs.
“We are thankful to Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation of Canada and our local Firehouse Subs in Woodstock for providing us with this invaluable funding. The added benefit of having the very best equipment on hand means everything because in an emergency, every second counts.”
