It's a gift that will keep on giving well into the future.
Toyota Motor Manufacturing Canada is supporting the Oxford County Alzheimer Society by donating $30,000 towards their capital campaign.
That puts the "Memory Builders" campaign up over their goal of $350,000.
Alzheimer Society Executive Director Shelly Green says they're very thankful for Toyota's support. "A donation of $30,000 puts our capital campaign at 107%. We're just so thankful to Toyota Motor Manufacturing Canada as well as all of these donors who came to support the work that we're doing here for people with dementia and Alzheimer Disease in Oxford County."
Green says before the expansion, the Alzheimer Society was in a "space crisis". But she says in a matter of weeks, they'll be ready to meet the needs of their staff, clients and their families. "We did start construction in the spring of this year. We're nearing completion on the addition (in photo) portion of the project. And this coming week, our contractors will be breaking through to our existing building to do the retrofit in here."
They'll need the extra space as the number of Canadians with Alzheimer's and Dementia is expected to double over the next 25-years.
