The Walmart in Woodstock has a new cart aimed at making shopping an easier experience for everyone.
WOODSTOCK - The Woodstock Walmart location is making steps to provide a more accessible store.
A redesigned shopping cart can now be used for anyone needing assistance. Assistant Store Manager of Walmart, Melissa McCrea, describes the new cart. "Caroline Carts are a great option for parents and caregivers of children who would use a wheelchair. It is a cart - the handle opens at the front so that the person or child can get into it at the front of that cart, and then the handle closes back down so that you can push and the person in the cart will be facing you."
Positive feedback has already begun to pour in following Walmart's decision to introduce Caroline's Cart, and McCrea explains why her location decided to add this new feature. "We heard from one of our customers that he wished there was a way to shop with a loved one who needed an accessible grocery cart and we looked into it. We take our customers feedback seriously, and we wanted to find a way to make his shopping experience better and also to make it better for other customers in similar situations."
"Meeting customers accessibility needs just helps them shop with ease should it be a child, a teenager, or a senior - it is just anybody that needs extra help," McCrea says. "Our store is really big so this offers another option for their shopping; we are really proud to be a member of the community that takes such action when it comes to people with limited mobility or special needs."
It took 6 months to bring the cart to the Friendly City and if there is a need more of these carts could be coming to Woodstock.
