A Woodstock woman was forced into a strip search by airport security in front of her own daughter last month. Jennifer Scheltema has contacted Canadian authorities about what she describes as an unreasonable search at the airport in Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic. Scheltema says she was approached by a female security officer at the airport and was told she "didn't check", without any further explanation. Scheltema says after being searched over her clothes, she was taken into a separate room with her 13-year-old daughter and was forced to take off all her clothes. "all the while my 13 year old daughter was in there and was made to watch for both of of us. We were scared and she was ready to cry and didn't know what to do and neither one us did and we still didn't get any more information than that". They were let go without further incident. Scheltema has been contacting Canadian authorities about the search, but so far, has only been told they're sorry it happened, and there's nothing they can do.
